Let's get closer to our LORD!

Being close to Allah (subhannahu wa ta'ala) is good for Muslims because they will get more rewards now and in the hereafter. This article will tell you how to be closer to Allah.

Here are a few steps to get closer to ALLAH (S.W.T).

1.READ QU'RAN

Read Qu'ran. Read it in reverence and reflect: try to understand every word it says because it will help you a lot in your life and of course in the afterlife. The Qur'an has the solutions to all problems.

2.PRAY 5 TIMES A DAY.

Pray five times a day. Always pray on time. Never ignore a prayer or delay it. When you hear the adhan (call to pray), go pray as soon as possible. Try to relax in your prayer and forget everything that could bother you in life. And remember, you're with Allah now and He deserves your full attention.

3.MAINTAIN GOOD MANNERS.

Maintain good manners. Never lie or steal, be nice to the people around you, be gracious towards your parents, keep your promises, always forgive and be nice. Even be kind to your enemies; the Qur'an tells us to "repel evil with good".

4.AVOID SINS.

Avoid sins generally. Don't insult others, don't delay or ignore duties and remember that Islam forbids all sexual activity outside marriage.

5.STAY MODEST.

Stay modest. Women should not expose their body or wear tight, revealing clothing. Men and women should respect the Islamic dress code by covering their awrah. For men, this is from the navel to the knees, and for women, any part of the body where adornments may be found, e.g anklets, henna, bracelets, earrings, etc. Generally awrah refers to the entire body except for the face; however in certain sects, the face is part of awrah as well. Modesty also applies to your behaviour. Muslim men should not stay close with unrelated women, and vice versa. Muslims are told to "lower their gaze".

6.ZAKAH.

Give "Zakah" or "Sadqah" (charity). and donate as much as you can to the needy. The Qur'an says that those who give charity will have a "noble reward". Note that Zakah, being one of Islam's five pillars, is a must for all Muslims. Sadaqah is not compulsory, but highly recommended.

There are, however, restrictions on whom to help and whom not to. The Quran allows Muslims to donate charity to those who try to earn their own livelihood but aren't succeeding too much in it, not those who beg for it, for begging from humans is wrong.

Repent to Allah with most sincere heart. Know that Allah's mercy is way bigger than our sins. Ask forgiveness to Allah who is the most merciful. Give up the sin immediately, resolve not to do it again and make amends to those you have wronged.

Tips
Never forget to pray. It's the most important thing in Islam.

Connect with "Allah". Talk to Him when you feel down or when you feel good. Tell him about the things you want.
